- Recently, out of ignorance, I bought a 28.8 USR Sportster internal for
- use in an office. It was to connect to a spare jack for our digital
- PBX phone system. The modem was dead -- it would talk to the
- computer, but it could not detect a dial tone, etc. I finally figured
- out that the USR won't work on anything but an analog line.
-
- Is this the exception or the rule? We had to relocate that modem, but
- my boss wants a modem at that original location. Must we shoot for
- 14.4s instead?
-
- Please advise on modem options. Changing the phone jack to analog is
- not an option *yet*.
-
- Thanks,
-
